The full picture: costs, export, cancelling, where data lives
- What it costs
- Full members (people who create and organize boards) pay per month. Volunteers, guests and viewers are free on every plan, forever. A small team uses Contals for free: up to 5 full members and 10 active boards. On the free plan, notifications arrive in the app, by push and in the weekly summary e-mail. A free organization nobody uses for 90 days is paused until an owner signs in again. Prices are early-access prices and become final before the public launch.
- Your data stays yours
- Export a board or a workspace as JSON at any time, on every plan – cards, comments, Power-Up data and the activity of the last 13 months; the whole organization in one file on Team and Business. No support ticket, no fee.
- Leaving is easy
- Cancel any time; paid plans run to the end of the period, then the organization continues on the free plan – nothing is deleted. An organization is deleted only when an owner asks for it, 30 days later; deleting your account removes your personal data after a 30-day grace period. Billing records are kept only as long as tax law requires.
- Where your data lives
- Board data, the database and backups are stored in Cloudflare’s EU jurisdiction; a second, encrypted copy of the backups lies at DigitalOcean in Frankfurt (Germany). Cloudflare is a US company; we say “EU data residency”, not “sovereign”. Details on the security page.
- How we make money
- From full members on paid plans. No ads, no selling or sharing of data, no tracking cookies, no metered AI credits. Visits to the website and the sign-in pages are counted with privacy-friendly, cookieless statistics (Fathom); signed-in pages load none.

Questions and answers
Can Contals plan lessons or timetables?
No. Contals does not schedule lessons, manage enrolments or bill tuition. It organizes the term’s work, recitals and concerts around your administration software.
Do teachers and families have to pay?
No. Teachers who only take on their own cards can be volunteers, families can be viewers – both free on every plan. People who create and organize boards are full members.
Can pupils use Contals?
Pupils from 16 can have their own account; younger pupils only with the consent of a parent or guardian. Their families can read along as viewers.
Are there templates for music schools?
Yes: Music school term and Plan a concert, in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, free on every plan.
Can a music school get nonprofit pricing?
Nonprofit pricing is for registered churches, charities and associations, and we review each request. A music school run by a registered association or foundation can ask for it on its organization’s billing page: the Team plan free for up to 15 full members and 50 % off paid plans beyond that. For municipal music schools we decide per request. Parents who only read are free as viewers anyway.
Plan the next concert on a board.
Free for small teams. Volunteers and guests are always free. No credit card.
