A sample board as you could set it up in Contals. Names are made up.

The work is billable. The chasing isn’t.

Status hides in e-mails, calls and three spreadsheets – and every client asks on a different channel.

Contals keeps every client project on one clear board.

Video: with “My cards” and “This week”, the board shows only what matters now.
  • Clients free as guests
  • Live for everyone
  • One dashboard across all boards

Every project on one dashboard

Open, overdue and done cards of every board – with the status your team sets.

Learn more – Every project on one dashboard

The workspace dashboard across six project boards: open, overdue and done-this-week cards in one line, then every board as a strip in its colour with its latest status update (on track, at risk), beside my work across boards, open cards per person and saved filters.
Video: a status update “At risk” is published for the open day, and the current status turns yellow.

Feedback right on the card

Clients comment where the work is; the checklist shows what is left to do.

The card for the volunteer plan, open beside the board: a checklist with two of four shifts ticked, and two comments about who runs the bar on Saturday.

Live on every device

A change in the office shows up at the client’s a moment later, and on every phone.

Miriam adds a card to the open day board on her laptop. Daniel sees it on his phone at once, takes it and answers in a comment. Both see the same – live.

Up and running in three steps

  1. Sign up free

    Two minutes, no credit card.

  2. One board per client project

Your phases as lists, each deliverable a card.

  3. Invite clients

As guests on their board only – free.

Made for teams with many client projects

For agencies, studios and teams that bring in clients and freelancers – without a portal and without extra seats.

Time tracking and invoicing aren’t part of Contals – you keep your tools for that.

The catch? Contals is new.

Only people who create and organize boards pay – clients as guests and viewers are free on every plan.

Guests see only their boards, so internal work belongs on separate, private boards.

The full picture: costs, export, cancelling, where data lives
What it costs
Full members (people who create and organize boards) pay per month. Volunteers, guests and viewers are free on every plan, forever. A small team uses Contals for free: up to 5 full members and 10 active boards. On the free plan, notifications arrive in the app, by push and in the weekly summary e-mail. A free organization nobody uses for 90 days is paused until an owner signs in again. Prices are early-access prices and become final before the public launch.
Your data stays yours
Export a board or a workspace as JSON at any time, on every plan – cards, comments, Power-Up data and the activity of the last 13 months; the whole organization in one file on Team and Business. No support ticket, no fee.
Leaving is easy
Cancel any time; paid plans run to the end of the period, then the organization continues on the free plan – nothing is deleted. An organization is deleted only when an owner asks for it, 30 days later; deleting your account removes your personal data after a 30-day grace period. Billing records are kept only as long as tax law requires.
Where your data lives
Board data, the database and backups are stored in Cloudflare’s EU jurisdiction; a second, encrypted copy of the backups lies at DigitalOcean in Frankfurt (Germany). Cloudflare is a US company; we say “EU data residency”, not “sovereign”. Details on the security page.
How we make money
From full members on paid plans. No ads, no selling or sharing of data, no tracking cookies, no metered AI credits. Visits to the website and the sign-in pages are counted with privacy-friendly, cookieless statistics (Fathom); signed-in pages load none.

Mondays for work, not status meetings

What a week can look like – an invented example.

  1. Mon 09:00

“My cards” shows four deliverables for this week.

  2. Mon 11:30

The client comments on the draft – the designer sees it right away.

  3. Wed 15:00

Search finds the ordering form in another project.

  4. Fri 17:30

No status report to write: the client has seen the board.

Without one place

  • Status lives in e-mails and calls.
  • Feedback arrives on five channels.
  • Every client contact costs a seat.

With Contals

  • Status is on the board, visible to clients.
  • Feedback is on the card.
  • Clients take part free as guests.
Video: a comment on the card asks a colleague with an @mention.

Questions and answers

Do clients pay or need a seat?

No. Clients join as guests on the boards you invite them to. Guests are free on every plan; they comment and can mark the cards assigned to them as done.

Can clients see our internal discussions?

Guests see only the boards they are invited to, and a board’s activity only from the day they joined. Comments on the cards are visible to everyone on the board, so keep internal work on separate private boards.

Is there time tracking?

No. Contals does not track time; many teams keep their time tracker and link it from the card.

Is there an API?

Yes. A public REST API with an OpenAPI description and an MCP server for AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT, both used with personal API tokens that can never do more than you can. The docs list every operation.
