How we calculate
How we compare
- List prices per month without VAT or sales tax, as published on the vendors’ pricing pages on 13 October 2026. Prices change; please check the linked pages before you decide.
- For each tool the cheapest plan that fits the team: Trello Free or Standard, Asana Personal or Starter, Contals Free or Team. The plans differ in features – Trello’s calendar, timeline, table, dashboard and map views, for example, need Premium ($10 a month yearly, $12.50 monthly), while every Contals plan includes a calendar, a dashboard and views across boards.
- Trello: the free plan has up to 10 collaborators per workspace, guests and pending invitations included, and 10 boards. On paid plans a guest on one board is free and a guest on two or more boards is billed as a member.
- Asana: helpers and readers join as guests – people outside your organization’s e-mail domain –, free, with access only to what is shared with them. Asana sells seats in steps; the calculator counts 2 to 5 seats exactly and then rounds up to the next five (a team of 6 to 9 pays for 10).
- Contals: the free plan has up to 5 full members and 10 boards in one workspace; on it, notifications arrive in the app, by push and in a weekly summary e-mail. Volunteers, guests and viewers are free on every plan. Contals prices are early-access prices and become final before the launch.
- Trello and Asana publish their prices in US dollars; we do not convert them. Contals shows its price in Swiss francs, euros or US dollars.

Questions
Why are volunteers free in Contals?
Because organizations that run on helpers should not pay for every helper. Only full members – the people who create and organize boards – pay; volunteers, guests and viewers are free on every plan, on any number of boards.
Is Contals always cheaper than Trello?
No. When every helper works on one board only, Trello’s single-board guests are free too, and Trello Standard can cost less than Contals Team for larger groups of organizers. The calculator shows both cases; the difference grows when helpers move between boards.
Are these the final Contals prices?
No. Contals prices are early-access prices and become final before the launch. Our written promise covers what happens afterwards: a price stays for existing customers for a fixed time, and changes are announced in advance.
Does the calculator include taxes and discounts?
No. All amounts are list prices without VAT or sales tax and without discounts. Contals offers nonprofit pricing on request; Atlassian and Asana have their own nonprofit programs.
