Contals

Projects that move forward. No project office needed.

Contals keeps campaigns, grant applications and committee work on simple boards – you pay for the few who organize, not for everyone who helps.

Free for small teams. Volunteers and guests are always free. No credit card.

A sample board as you could set it up in Contals. Names are made up.

The mission is clear. Who does what by when often isn’t.

Deadlines live in one person’s calendar, jobs in the group chat – and the knowledge leaves with every resignation.

Contals keeps every project on a board everyone can read.

Video: with “My cards” and “This week”, the board shows only what matters now.
  • Only organizers pay
  • Committee free as viewers
  • Boards private by default
  • Data stored in the EU

Every deadline in the calendar

The due dates of every board in one place, each in its board’s colour.

Learn more – Every deadline in the calendar

The workspace calendar for one month: the due dates of six project boards, each in its board’s colour, and the evening picked in a date poll.

Find the meeting date with a poll

The committee and guests vote by link, even without an account.

Learn more – Find the meeting date with a poll

Propose dates for the team evening on a card. Guests vote by link, without an account. Pick the best date: it becomes the card’s due date and shows in the calendar.

See who changed what

The audit log shows roles, access and settings – with the person and the date.

Learn more – See who changed what

The audit log of an organization: who changed roles, board access and settings, and when, with filters by person, type and date.

Up and running in three steps

  1. Create your organization

Sign up and name the workspace after your organization.

  2. Invite the committee and volunteers

As viewers, guests or volunteers – free.

  3. A board per project

Campaign, grant, general meeting: lists, cards, owners, dates.

For small teams with a big mission

Yes, if a few staff carry several projects with a committee and volunteers.

  • Projects and campaigns
  • Grants and reports
  • Committee work
  • Events and fundraisers

No donor CRM and no accounting – you keep your tools for that.

The catch? Contals is new.

Only people who create and organize boards pay – the committee, volunteers and guests are free on every plan.

The data is stored in the EU jurisdiction of Cloudflare, a US company; the data protection kit explains what that means.

The full picture: costs, export, cancelling, where data lives
What it costs
Full members (people who create and organize boards) pay per month. Volunteers, guests and viewers are free on every plan, forever. A small team uses Contals for free: up to 5 full members and 10 active boards. On the free plan, notifications arrive in the app, by push and in the weekly summary e-mail. A free organization nobody uses for 90 days is paused until an owner signs in again. Prices are early-access prices and become final before the public launch.
Your data stays yours
Export a board or a workspace as JSON at any time, on every plan – cards, comments, Power-Up data and the activity of the last 13 months; the whole organization in one file on Team and Business. No support ticket, no fee.
Leaving is easy
Cancel any time; paid plans run to the end of the period, then the organization continues on the free plan – nothing is deleted. An organization is deleted only when an owner asks for it, 30 days later; deleting your account removes your personal data after a 30-day grace period. Billing records are kept only as long as tax law requires.
Where your data lives
Board data, the database and backups are stored in Cloudflare’s EU jurisdiction; a second, encrypted copy of the backups lies at DigitalOcean in Frankfurt (Germany). Cloudflare is a US company; we say “EU data residency”, not “sovereign”. Details on the security page.
How we make money
From full members on paid plans. No ads, no selling or sharing of data, no tracking cookies, no metered AI credits. Visits to the website and the sign-in pages are counted with privacy-friendly, cookieless statistics (Fathom); signed-in pages load none.

Projects move forward between meetings

What a week can look like – an invented example.

  1. Tue 08:30

The grant application is due in two weeks; the draft is attached to the card.

  2. Tue 18:00

The committee reads the board before the meeting – no update e-mail.

  3. Thu 20:00

Every decision gets a card, an owner and a date.

  4. Sat 10:00

Six volunteers at the stand, each with their own task.

Without one place

  • Deadlines in one person’s calendar.
  • Jobs posted in the group chat.
  • Knowledge leaves with people.

With Contals

  • Every deadline is a card with an owner.
  • Volunteers see their jobs on their phone.
  • History and export stay with you.

Questions and answers

Is there a discount for charities and associations?

Yes. Nonprofit pricing is on request, for churches and charities: registered churches, charities and associations ask for it on their organization’s billing page and get the Team plan free for up to 15 full members and 50 % off paid plans beyond that; each request is reviewed by us. Volunteers, guests and viewers are free anyway.

Can our committee use Contals without paying?

Yes. Committee members who only read can be viewers; those who also comment can be volunteers or guests – all free. Only people who create and organize boards are full members.

Is Contals GDPR-compliant?

Contals is designed for the GDPR and the Swiss revFADP: data in Cloudflare’s EU jurisdiction, data minimization, export and deletion. The data processing agreement (part of our terms), the technical and organizational measures and the subprocessor list are in the data protection kit.

Can we export everything if we leave?

Yes. Board and workspace exports work on every plan; on Team and Business an organization owner can also export the whole organization at once. Every export contains the boards the exporting person can open, with comments and the activity of the last 13 months, as JSON.
