Power-Ups

A Power-Up is an optional feature that a board admin switches on for one board. All Power-Ups below are built by the Contals team and included in every plan. Due dates is on for new boards; the others are off until you need them. Turning a Power-Up off hides its data; turning it on again shows it. Labels, assignees, checklists, custom fields and status updates are always on – no Power-Up needed.

  1. Open the board → Power-Ups in the board header.
  2. Use the switch next to a Power-Up. Its settings appear right below the switch.

Only board admins can change Power-Ups; everyone on the board sees the change at once. A Power-Up that builds on another one says so (“Needs: Due dates”) and switches it on together with it. Power-Ups with their own page – the calendar, blocked cards, votes, read me, the dashboard, polls, bookings, automation – add an entry to the board header (with more than three, they share a Views menu).

Workspace admins choose which Power-Ups are on for new boards: workspace settings → Power-Ups on new boards. Existing boards keep their own choice.

  • Due dates – a due date per card, shown as Due today or Overdue; a setting shows a countdown (“in 3 days”) instead of the date. See labels, assignees and due dates.
  • Calendar – cards by due date in a month and a week view; drag a card to another day, schedule cards without a date – by dragging or with Set a date, which also works on phones and with the keyboard –, download an .ics file. It opens on the next month with a due date, and Next due jumps ahead. On phones it shows an agenda. Checklist items with a date appear too.
  • List limits – a WIP limit per list (list menu → Set WIP limit); the header shows “3 / 5”, and the list is highlighted above the limit.
  • Card snooze – hide a card until a date; it comes back by itself. The board page lists snoozed cards with Wake now.
  • Dependencies – a card can be “blocked by” other cards on the board and shows Blocked while one of them is open; its people hear when it can start, and a board page lists every blocked card. No Gantt chart. See dependencies.
  • Voting – one vote per person and card, a count on the card, the voters in the details, and a board page that ranks cards by votes. Volunteers and guests can vote.
  • Read me – a board page that explains the board (purpose, how it works, links) in simple Markdown, edited in place.
  • Dashboard – a board page with counters (open, done this week, overdue, due soon, without assignee), cards per list, label and person, and a weekly trend. For all boards of a workspace at once, see the workspace dashboard.
  • Card aging – cards without activity fade over time (or turn yellow in pirate mode), so forgotten work stands out. Boards can also mark stale cards with an hourglass.
  • Package tracker – tracking numbers on cards: Swiss Post, DHL, DPD, UPS, GLS, FedEx and more are recognized, with a link to the carrier’s tracking page.
  • Automation – rules, schedules and buttons that move, label, assign, comment on or archive cards. See automation and repeating cards.
  • Card repeater – a fresh copy of a card every day, week, month or year.
  • Chat notifications – new cards, moves, completed cards, comments and cards due tomorrow in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or Discord. See chat and cloud links.
  • Links and cloud files – links to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, GitHub, Figma and more on cards, with previews.
  • Date poll – find a date on a card; guests vote with a public link. See date polls and bookings.
  • Booking page – people book a free time slot on a public page; each booking becomes a card.
  • Power-Ups are built by the Contals team only; no third-party code runs on your boards.
  • Every Power-Up change is checked on the server like any other change. While a Power-Up is off, the board refuses its changes.
  • A board without a Power-Up never loads its code, so boards stay fast.
  • Turning a Power-Up off never deletes data.

Planned: a meeting agenda built from cards; later a timeline view, time tracking and a public roadmap with feedback. The changelog announces each one when it ships.
