Account deletion
You can delete your account yourself on the profile page. You leave all workspaces at once and are signed out everywhere; your personal data is erased for good after a 30-day grace period. Cards and comments in shared workspaces stay with the team and show “Deleted user”.
Before you delete: workspaces you own alone
Section titled “Before you delete: workspaces you own alone”If you are the only owner of a workspace, Contals asks you to decide for each one:
- Hand over to another member, who also becomes organization owner, or
- Delete the workspace with all its boards – Contals shows how many members lose access.
If you are also the organization’s only owner, the form names the organization and its plan: the person you hand over to becomes its owner – with its plan and billing. A paid subscription keeps running; cancel it on the billing page first if it should end. The new owner gets an e-mail and a notice in Contals, and invoices go to their address from then on – never to yours.
A workspace where nobody else is a member is deleted together with your account: it and its boards are removed for good after 30 days, and if it was its organization’s last workspace, the organization goes as well. Deletion is blocked until every decision is made.
Delete your account
Section titled “Delete your account”- Avatar (top right) → Profile and settings → Delete account → Delete my account…
- Make the decisions for workspaces you own alone.
- Type your e-mail address to confirm and choose Delete account for good.
What happens
Section titled “What happens”| When | What |
|---|---|
| Immediately | You leave all workspaces and boards; open sessions end; your name and e-mail address are replaced by a pseudonym |
| Immediately | Your cards and comments in shared workspaces stay and show “Deleted user” |
| Immediately | Your API tokens, agent connections and calendar links stop working; invitations you sent are withdrawn |
| After 30 days | Your remaining personal data and your personal settings – saved filters, notification settings, assistant conversations – are erased for good |
| Up to 30 days after each e-mail | Our e-mail log keeps a hash of your address, its domain and the delivery status (protection against abuse); addresses that bounced stay blocked as a hash |
| Up to 90 days / 35 days / 2 years | Copies in the archive of board changes (90 days), the database backups and nightly copies of boards (35 days) and the archived log of security-relevant actions (2 years) run out on their own. If one of them is ever restored, your deletion is applied again – it is recorded, with IDs only, until every copy is gone |
| As long as tax law requires | Billing records – invoices, amounts, payment provider IDs – are kept |
Changed your mind?
Section titled “Changed your mind?”During the 30 days, support can restore the account: write to support@contals.com from the account’s address. The restore brings back your name, your address and your personal settings; you sign in with an e-mail link and get an e-mail that the account is back. It does not bring back what the deletion ended: the workspaces and boards you left (their admins invite you again – your cards and comments are still there), your password, passkeys and two-factor sign-in, API tokens and calendar links. After the 30 days the deletion is final.
