Editing in place
In Contals you edit text where you see it: click a card title on the board, a list title or the board title, type, and press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. There are no edit dialogs.
Card titles
Section titled “Card titles”- Click the title of a card on the board. It turns into a text field.
- Enter saves, Escape cancels. Clicking elsewhere also saves.
- With the keyboard: focus a card and press F2 to start editing (Enter opens the card details instead).
- Everyone on the board sees the new title at once.
To open the card details instead, use the small icon at the top right of the card or its number at the bottom – see card details.
List and board titles
Section titled “List and board titles”Click a list title or the board title in the header, type, press Enter. The same keys apply.
Descriptions and comments
Section titled “Descriptions and comments”In the card details, click the description to edit it. Because a description has several lines, Enter adds a new line and ⌘ Enter (Mac) or Ctrl Enter (Windows, Linux) saves. Comments work the same way: write, then ⌘/Ctrl Enter to send. You can edit your own comments later by clicking them.
Who may edit what
Section titled “Who may edit what”- Full members with the editor or admin role on a board can edit everything.
- Volunteers and guests (contributor role) can comment, tick checklist items and mark the cards assigned to them as done; titles and descriptions only on cards they created.
- Viewers can only read.
If you are not allowed to change something, the field stays read-only. See invitations and roles.
