Public boards
A public board is a read-only web page of one board: its lists and cards for anyone with the link, without an account – a program for parents, a roadmap for a congregation, the packing list of a camp. Nobody can change anything there.
Publish a board
Section titled “Publish a board”- Board header → Settings → Public page.
- Switch on Publish this board as a public page. The Link to the public page appears: Copy it or Open the page.
- Choose what The page shows: Labels, Due dates (where the due-dates Power-Up is on), Checklist progress, Card descriptions and Done cards. Labels, due dates and done cards are on at first; checklist progress and descriptions are off.
Only the board’s admins can do this. Never shown: comments, people on cards, activity, custom fields and attachments – names of people are personal data of people who did not publish the page, and comments are conversations.
What visitors see
Section titled “What visitors see”- The board’s title and its open lists, in order; per list its first 100 cards and how many more there are.
- Per card: the title, the card number (when the board shows card numbers), done – and what you switched on.
- Read only, the time of the page, and at the end “Created with Contals” and Report abuse.
The page is rendered on the server and readable without JavaScript. It does not use the board’s live connection: card changes reach it within two minutes; switching it off or changing what it shows takes effect within 30 seconds.
Search engines and links
Section titled “Search engines and links”By default the page tells search engines not to index it. Organizations on a paid plan (verified organizations) can switch on Let search engines find the page; for them, web addresses in card descriptions are clickable links, too. Everybody else’s descriptions stay plain text.
A new link, switching off
Section titled “A new link, switching off”- New link creates a new address; the old one stops working within 30 seconds everywhere. Use it when a link reached the wrong people.
- Switching the page off ends it. Switching it on again brings back the same link.
- A board that becomes confidential loses its public page, and a confidential board cannot have one.
- If Contals takes a page down after a report, it stays off and the section says why.
