Contals bills the organization per full member – owners, admins and members, counted once per person across all its workspaces. Volunteers, viewers and board guests are free on every plan. Organization owners and admins manage the plan on the page **Billing and plans**: organization settings → **Billing** → **Billing and plans**.

> **Early access:**
>
> Billing through Stripe is built and switches on with the public launch; until then nothing is charged. Prices and the free plan's size are early-access values that become final before the launch – the [pricing page](/en/pricing/) shows the current ones, with monthly and annual billing. The trial and the nonprofit terms are final.

## The plans at a glance

Prices per full member and month, without VAT or sales tax – the same numbers in Swiss francs, euros and US dollars (early-access prices, as of October 2026).

| | Free | Team | Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price with annual billing | 0 | 4.50 (54 a year) | 9 (108 a year) |
| Price with monthly billing | 0 | 5.50 | 11 |
| Full members | up to 5 | up to 500 | up to 5,000 |
| Volunteers, guests, viewers | free, any number | free, any number | free, any number |
| Workspaces | 1 | 10 | 50 |
| Boards | 10 active boards (archived ones do not count) | unlimited | unlimited |
| Attachment storage | 1 GB, files up to 10 MB | 10 GB per paid full member, pooled, at least 50 GB; files up to 100 MB | 25 GB per paid full member, pooled, at least 250 GB; files up to 100 MB |
| Automation runs | 500 a month | 5,000 a month | unlimited |
| Activity history | 90 days | 1 year | 13 months (a board's whole history) |
| E-mail invitations | up to 50 a day | no daily cap | no daily cap |

Every plan has every Power-Up, the dashboard and calendar across boards, AI with your own model and the audit log. Team and Business add single notification e-mails, a daily summary, the export of the whole organization and single sign-on. "Unlimited boards" means no plan limit; every workspace keeps an abuse ceiling of 1,000 boards, archived ones included.

## What the billing page shows

- **Current plan** and its state – for example **Trial**, **Active**, **Ends at period end** or **Payment overdue**.
- **Seats** – the billable seats, the people who use Contals for free, and pending invitations for full roles (they reserve a seat).
- **Usage and limits** – seats, workspaces, boards per workspace (on the free plan) and attachment storage against your plan's limits, with a warning before you reach one. [Archived boards](/docs/en/boards/archive/) do not count. On Team and Business the line under the meters explains the **Storage pool**: how much each paid full member adds and the minimum.
- **E-mails this month** – on the free plan: how many notification e-mails your organization sent this month, against its monthly cap.
- **Automation runs this month** – on Free and Team: how many runs of rules and card repeaters your organization used this month, against its plan's budget, and the date the count starts again.
- The plans side by side in the **Currency** you choose, with **Upgrade to Team** or **Upgrade to Business**.
- **Payment methods and invoices** – opens the customer portal of our payment provider: change the payment method, download invoices, switch plans or cancel at the end of the period.

## The trial without a card

Every new organization starts with the Team plan for 14 days, without entering a card. Banners show the days left and **Keep Team**; organization owners get a reminder e-mail shortly before the end. Afterwards the organization continues on the free plan – nothing is deleted. Upgrading during the trial keeps the remaining days.

## Currency

Contals bills in Swiss francs (CHF), euros (EUR) or US dollars (USD). The billing page suggests the currency of your region – CHF for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, EUR for the EEA and the UK, USD everywhere else – and you can pick another one under **Currency** before you upgrade. Once a subscription runs, it stays in its currency (the page says **Billed in …**); our payment provider cannot switch a running subscription to another currency. Prices are shown without VAT or sales tax; the checkout adds the tax that applies to your billing address.

## Upgrade, seats and invoices

**Upgrade to Team** (or Business) opens Stripe's checkout in the chosen currency: billing address, VAT ID if you have one, payment method. The subscription counts your billable seats; added seats are charged pro rata, removed seats drop out from the next period. Plan changes, invoices and cancellation are in **Payment methods and invoices**.

## Nonprofit pricing

Nonprofit pricing is on request, for churches and charities. Registered churches, charities and associations ask for it on the billing page: choose **Apply for nonprofit pricing**, enter the legal name, legal form, register number or a link to the public register entry and the country, confirm the declaration and **Send request**. We check the register entry, usually within a few days. The owners and the person who asked get the decision by e-mail, and a note of ours, if there is one, also shows on the billing page. After a denial you can send a new request – best with a link to the register entry – or write to support@contals.com. Approved organizations get the Team plan free up to a number of full members and a discount on paid plans beyond that (see the [pricing page](/en/pricing/)).

## The storage pool

Attachments count against one storage allowance per organization – originals and previews, on every board. The free plan has 1 GB, with files up to 10 MB. On Team every paid full member adds 10 GB to a shared pool, on Business 25 GB; the pool never drops below 50 GB (Team) or 250 GB (Business), however small the team. Paid full members are the seats on your subscription; with approved nonprofit pricing, the free seats count too. During the trial without a card the pool is the minimum. Volunteers, guests and viewers add nothing to the pool – and cost nothing.

When an upload would pass the pool, the card details say the storage is full; delete files you no longer need or add seats. Nothing is deleted when the pool shrinks.

## Automation runs

A run is one time a rule of the [Automation](/docs/en/power-ups/automation/) Power-Up or a card repeater changes something on a board – moves a card, sets a label, creates the repeated card. A rule whose conditions do not hold, or a test that changes nothing, does not count. Runs are counted per organization and calendar month (UTC): 500 on the free plan, 5,000 on Team, any number on Business.

When the month's runs are used up, rules and card repeaters pause until the next month starts: the **Automation** page and the repeating cards show **Automations are paused until …**, the run log shows *paused* entries, and the board's admins get one item in their inbox. Nothing runs half, and nothing catches up later – a rule or a repeat that fell into the pause is skipped. Upgrading lifts the pause right away.

## Invitations per day

A free organization sends up to 50 e-mail invitations a day (UTC), to workspaces and boards together. A request that would pass the cap is refused as a whole with a notice, and nothing is sent; try again the next day. Joining through an [invite link](/docs/en/team/invite-links/) never counts. Paid plans have no daily cap; every person can still send at most 100 invitations a day, on every plan.

## AI and views across boards

AI with your organization's own model and the dashboard, calendar and filters across boards are part of every plan, the free plan too. See [your own AI model](/docs/en/ai/own-model/) and [dashboard, calendar and filters across boards](/docs/en/views/across-boards/).

## What the free plan leaves out

E-mail is the largest cost of running Contals, so the free plan saves on it; boards, Power-Ups, AI and the views across boards are included all the same. The [pricing page](/en/pricing/#faq) has the current numbers.

- **No single notification e-mails.** Notifications arrive in the app, by [push](/docs/en/guides/install-app/) and in the weekly summary e-mail. If you chose a daily summary, it comes on Mondays and covers the week – unless another organization of yours has a paid plan.
- **A monthly cap on notification e-mails.** Each free organization sends a limited number of them per month; the summary e-mails count, sign-in links, confirmations and invitations never do. The billing page shows the count under **E-mails this month**. At the cap, no more of these e-mails go out until the month ends; everything stays in the app.
- **Plain links on public pages.** Web addresses in the texts of your public poll and booking pages (descriptions, places) show as text with a hint until the organization pays for a plan or has approved nonprofit pricing – the trial without a card does not count. Visitors' comments never become links. Public poll and booking pages also have **Report abuse**, see [date polls and booking pages](/docs/en/power-ups/scheduling/#links-and-report-abuse-on-public-pages).
- **A pause after a long quiet time** – see below.

## When a free organization is paused

A free organization that nobody has used for a long time is paused: its boards, cards and people all stay, but nothing can be changed, and its public poll and booking pages take no new entries. Its owners are told by e-mail beforehand and when it happens; the free plan's billing page states the rule. Members see a banner that it is paused and that nothing was deleted; changes are refused with the same explanation.

To wake it up, an owner signs in – or opens Contals while signed in. That is enough: it is active again at once. A paid plan also ends the pause at once. The audit log records the pause and the wake-up. Organizations with a paid plan, in their trial or with approved nonprofit pricing are never paused.

## Limits and when a plan ends

- When a limit is reached – for example boards per workspace, full members or the invitations of the day – Contals shows a notice right where you are, with the way to upgrade (or the hint to ask an admin of your organization). Nothing is deleted.
- When a paid subscription ends without a new one, the organization continues on the free plan and its owners get an e-mail. Nothing is deleted: boards, workspaces and members above the free limits stay and keep working; only growth is blocked, and older activity is hidden until the next upgrade (a board keeps 13 months of history). An organization is deleted only when an owner asks for it (see [deleting the organization](/docs/en/settings/organization/#deleting-the-organization)).
- If a payment fails, the owners get an e-mail and a banner shows the deadline. If it stays unpaid after the grace period, the organization becomes read-only – everything stays visible, nothing can be changed – until the invoice is paid: the owners get another e-mail, every member sees a banner, and boards show that they are read-only instead of offering changes. If the last payment attempt fails too, the subscription ends and the organization continues on the free plan.
- A subscription cancelled during its free trial simply ends on the free plan – nothing is deleted.

Contals stores only Stripe IDs, amounts and states; names, addresses, VAT IDs and payment details stay with Stripe. Invoices and amounts are kept as long as tax law requires, also after an account is deleted.
