The most important shortcuts are `/` or `⌘K` for search, the arrow keys to move between cards, **Enter** to open a card and **F2** to rename it, **⌘/Ctrl Enter** to save multi-line text and **Escape** to cancel or close. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl instead of ⌘. Everything in Contals works with the keyboard alone; the first `Tab` on every page offers **Skip to content**.

## Everywhere

| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| `/` | Open search (when you are not typing in a field) |
| `⌘ K` / `Ctrl K` | Open search |
| `↑` `↓` | Move through search results |
| `Enter` | Open the selected result |
| `Escape` | Close search |

## On the board

| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| `Tab` | Go to the next list or control (each list is one stop) |
| `↑` `↓` `Home` `End` | Move between the cards of a list |
| `←` `→` | Go to the neighbouring list |
| `Enter` | Open the focused card’s details (the focus moves to its title) |
| `F2` | Rename the focused card in place |
| `Enter` | Save a title |
| `F` | Filter the board's cards ([filter a board](/docs/en/boards/filters/)) |
| `[` `]` | The previous or next tab of the board |
| `?` | Show the keyboard shortcuts in the sidebar (also in the board's `…` menu: **Keyboard shortcuts**) |
| `⌘ Z` / `Ctrl Z` | Undo your last change on this board, when you are not typing in a field ([undo and redo](/docs/en/boards/undo/)) |
| `⌘ Shift Z` / `Ctrl Shift Z` / `Ctrl Y` | Redo it |
| `Escape` | Leave a field; a second `Escape` closes the card sidebar and returns to the card; with the sidebar closed, it clears the board filter |

The single-key shortcuts `/`, `F`, `[`, `]` and `?` can be turned off in your [profile](/docs/en/settings/profile/) (**Single-key shortcuts**), for example when you use speech input. `⌘K` / `Ctrl K` keeps working.

## Moving without dragging

| Where | How |
|---|---|
| Card details | **Move to list** and **Position** |
| List menu (`…`) | **Move list left** / **Move list right** |
| Checklist item menu (`…`) | **Move up**, **Move down** or to another checklist |
| Workspace calendar | Open the card and change its due date |

## Adding lists and cards

| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| `Enter` | Add the card or list you typed |
| `Escape` | Close the input |

When you create a checklist, the cursor goes straight into **Add an item**, and after you edit a card title on the card and press **Enter**, the focus stays on that card – what you type next never runs a board shortcut by accident.

## Card details

| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| `⌘ Enter` / `Ctrl Enter` | Save the description; send a comment |
| `Enter` | New line in descriptions and comments |
| `Escape` | Close the sidebar |

More shortcuts are planned.
